Stanson successfully solicited the Director of Fuel Cell Development at Los Alamos National Laboratories to head up Blue Star Sustainable Development, co-founded by Stanson. Unfortunately, as in many scientific ventures, the funding requirements became out of bounds, far exceeding the financial resources of the company.

Both Blue Star and the above-mentioned North Star Exploration were merged into a public company named EMEX. After over $15,000,000 of invested capital was lost, the management was no longer capable of providing new funds and the company ceased operations.
