PATHMARK SUPERMARKETS

Approximately l965-1970, Mr. Stanson served as Director of Special Projects reporting Directly to Milton Perlmutter, President of Shoprite, which grew into Pathmark Supermarkets. His assignment was to do “whatever he believed would make the business grow and be profitable and to double sales every year.”  Starting with a sales base of $107,000,000, Mr. Stanson improvised a series of marketing innovations, which helped bring sales to over $1,100,000,000 in 5 years, and Pathmark became the most profitable chain in supermarket history.
